Tree of the Year 2017

The Icelandic Forestry Association, in collaboration with Ikea in Iceland, will nominate a beech tree (Fagus sylvatica) in Hellisgerði in Hafnarfjörður as the Tree of the Year 2017, in a formal ceremony on Saturday, July 29, at 15:00. Everybody is welcome to attend the nomination.

The Icelandic Forestry Association nominates a Tree of the Year each year. The nomination is intended to highlight the good work done in Iceland in the cultivation of trees and forests. The nomination can be based on a variety of factors, such as the size, history or rarity of the species of tree in question.
